Introduction to Veterinary Medical Acupuncture

By understanding how neuro-physiologic components work together, you can help manage pain and aid in the healing process. You will leave the first class with the confidence to start treating your patients!

Course Description

This course is the first of three modules for CVAT certification.

The course consists of a four-day, in-person, hands-on learning session with various canine patients to learn from.

Introduction to Veterinary Medical Acupuncture will teach the anatomy of the major points, including neurological, musculoskeletal, fascial, and lymphatic structures associated with each. The sessions will teach the basics of needling and electrical stimulation to allow therapists to immediately start treating patients to build their skill base as they progress through more advanced modules and acquire case logs for upcoming sessions.

Prerequisites:

This course is open to licensed veterinarians and veterinary students who have completed their first year of veterinary school.

RACE Approved for 33 Credit hours by the AAVSB

Note: The last day of class ends early to allow students the opportunity to return home that evening. Students who do not attend a full day of class will not receive any CE credit hours for that day and may have to return to make up the missing hours. Do not make airline reservations that require you to depart class before 3:00 P.M.

Course Notes: Our Introduction to Veterinary Medical Acupuncture consists of independent study and a 4-day in-person session.

Please Note: The CVAT certification modules tend to sell out months in advance. It is recommended that you register for all three modules at once to ensure your certification modules will be complete in the same year. However, you can choose to take more time and complete your modules at a slower pace.

Class Times:

Days 1-3: 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Central Time, USA

Day 4: 8 A.M. to 3 P.M. Central Time, USA

Examination:

At the end of the course, students are given a take-home, open-book final exam that they have 14 days to complete. Collaboration with classmates is encouraged.
