PennHIP Certification Seminar - TBA

PennHIP (University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program) is a not-for-profit program, wholly owned and operated, by the University of Pennsylvania. It consists of 3 integral components.
  • An evidence-based radiographic technology to accurately screen canine hips for the susceptibility to OA.
  • A worldwide network of trained Veterinarians to perform the procedure with competence.
  • A database maintained at the University of Pennsylvania designed to accumulate and report on breed-specific trends in OA and hip dysplasia control.

Canine Sports Medicine - June 13-15, Ft. Collins

Offered to: Veterinarians, Physical Therapists, Veterinary Technicians, Physical Therapist Assistants and Occupational Therapists.

The course provides students with a fundamental understanding of normal structure and locomotion as they relate to canine performance, and an introduction to canine sporting events. Sports injuries in canine athletes are covered in depth including their causes, prevention and rehabilitation. The role that canine sports psychology can play in the rehabilitation of the canine athlete is also discussed. Participants get hands-on experience with dogs on-site.

Nutrition and Canine Rehabilitation - TBA

This course provides students with a basic understanding of the role nutrition plays in canine rehabilitation. Also how to conduct a nutritional assessment and make recommendations for the nutritional management of veterinary patients.

The Business of Canine Rehabilitation - July 11-12, Ft. Collins

Offered to: Veterinarians, Physical Therapists, Veterinary Technicians, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists and Practice Managers.

This course provides students with a basic understanding of the business side of canine rehabilitation including facility design, equipment selection, dealing with suppliers, and legal and ethical issues.

Splinting and Bracing in Canine Rehabilitation - TBA

Offered to: Veterinarians, Physical Therapists, Veterinary Technicians, Physical Therapist Assistants and Occupational Therapists.

This course provides students with a fundamental understanding of how splinting and bracing are used in canine rehabilitation. Options for immobilization, support, protection and assistance are introduced. Biomechanical and fitting principles are covered thoroughly, and students learn to identify the features and uses of various splints and braces. Participants get hands-on experience as they test materials and formulate custom splints for use on fellow classmates and canine patients alike.

Aquatic Therapy in Canine Rehabilitation - October 14-15, Englewood Colorado

Offered to: Veterinarians, Physical Therapists, Veterinary Technicians, Physical Therapist Assistants and Occupational Therapists who have successfully completed Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation.

This course introduces particpants to aquatics and hydrotherapy and their use in canine rehabilitation and conditioning. Creating a hydrotherapy program including specific exercises is a primary focus. Hydrotherapy equipment and products are covered including selection, use and maintainance.
