Course Description
This three (3) day spectacular course will review the latest in osteoarthritis pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment options, including pharmacological interventions, oral supplements, biologics, therapeutic exercise, and physical modalities. Day three of the course will consist of hands-on labs with ample time to review anatomy and proper joint injection techniques. Students will leave feeling confident to perform joint injections in their daily practice.

Course Eligibility:
Licensed veterinarians; no rehabilitation certification required
Canine rehab-certified physical therapists
- PTs can take an active role in days 1 & 2 of the course
- On Day 3, they can observe the joint injection portion to gain a better understanding of joint injection procedures

Course Curriculum:
Gain practical skills and clinical insight into diagnosing, treating, and managing osteoarthritis in canine and feline patients.
- Understanding Osteoarthritis
Learn the underlying pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and how it presents in both dogs and cats. Understand the disease progression to better inform treatment decisions. - Diagnostics & Hands-On Skills
Practice musculoskeletal exams in hands-on labs and gain tips for capturing high-quality OA radiographs. Learn to apply objective pain scoring systems to monitor patient progress. - Treatment & Management Strategies
Review the latest evidence on OA pain management options, including pharmacologic and non-drug approaches. Explore effective supplementation and synthetic intra-articular therapies. - Rehabilitation & OA
Understand the role of rehabilitation in slowing disease progression and improving quality of life. Learn how to combine therapeutic exercise and pain management for long-term success. - Joint Injection Techniques
Get expert guidance on performing joint injections with confidence. Participate in a joint injection lab and learn how to integrate these services into your practice.

Course Information:
Online Videos: Approximately 40 minutes online via Thinkific (Student will gain access 60 days before course)
In-Person: 3 days at CRI in Springfield, MO
In-Person Daily Hours:
- Days 1 - 2: 8:00am-5:00pm Central Time, USA
- Day 3: 8:00am-3:00pm Central Time, USA
- The last day of class ends early to allow students the opportunity to return home that evening. Do not make airline reservations that require you to depart class before 3:00 P.M.
RACE Approved: 22 credit hours by the AAVSB
