Job Description: You will:
Assist veterinarians with preparing and managing service flow, including patient receiving, organizing, and assisting with all technical aspects of patient care and procedures.
Interact with clients, which includes preparing patients for exams, assisting during exams, room preparation, handling, monitoring, and discharging patients, as well as handling, cleaning, and maintaining instruments/equipment used during exams/procedures.
Provide instruction to veterinary students, interns, and occasionally residents in technical skills and procedures.
Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, students, and clinicians by providing excellent communication for all patients that are shared between services as well as updates on patients housed in INC/ICU and providing input to clinicians and staff in regards to nursing care needs of SMPR patients housed in these units.
Coordinate patient flow, assuring cases receive efficient, quality care throughout their entire visit.
Assist with scheduling, setting up, and completing all nursing care and procedures patients need using auxiliary services throughout CUHA.
Ensure all supplies are at par levels and have basic care and working knowledge of equipment.
Work with faculty/staff to implement clinical investigations, including data collection, and/or collaborate with other service clinicians/staff on clinical investigations conducted within the CUHA.
What qualifications are required?
Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited institution or its equivalent approved by the New York State Department of Education.
New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
Up to two years of experience as an LVT.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment while consistently demonstrating a high level of initiative and professional communication.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
With assistance, a large amount of heavy and prolonged lifting and walking, patients will weigh up to and exceed 50 lbs., as well as supporting patients immersed in water while utilizing the water treadmill.
